No on knows exactly when one of the most popular summer desserts made its first appearance. History tells us that roman Emperor Nero: A.D. 37-68 sent slaves to the mountains to bring back snow that was later sweetened with honey and fruit pulp. It is also said that, in the 13th century, Marco Polo tasted flavoured ice during his travels to the Far East and brought back recipes. Recipes for flavoured ice quickly spread from Italy to the rest of Europe. At some point in time, experimenting chefs introduced cream and butter to their recipes with their new creation being aptly named ICE CREAM! In 1986, Tom Schreider created White Mountain Homemade Ice Cream with the ancient philosophy of manufacturing ice cream in an old fashioned pine bucket using ice and rock salt as a freezing agent. Using only all natural ingredients, White Mountain has developed a reputation for manufacturing and producing the best ice cream in the industry. Using only the finest all natural ingredients and freshest cream, White Mountain is simply: "The Peak Of Perfection". We at White Mountain are constantly experimenting with new combinations in the creation of our exquisite flavour selections. In 2004 after 17 successful years in business and using the same all natural recipe for his homemade ice cream, Tom decided it was time to expand into the United States of America. Whether in our famous waffle cone, cup, shake or a half litre to go, we encourage our customers to try any combination.
